Currently Im running an X2 at stock, with the default windows SP2 install. I've been looking at all these drivers and tbh, I know theres the AMD Driver, the windows hotfix and the dual core optimiser, but at the end of the day I've got no clue which combination to install to get optimal performance from the CPU, does anyone know?

Should I install all 3, or just one or two of them etc?

Any help appreciated.

You may not need any of them! I have a similar system to yours (see sig), and when I put the system together a few months ago, I installed XP SP2 and didn't need anything else. If you check in task manager, and look at the performance tab, does it show 2 seperate CPU useage charts?

Also look at device manager. Under Computer it should show as "ACPI Multiprocessor PC"

i think he's talking about optimal performance, not whether or not both cores are working, to be honest ive never used any patches on mine, might try them out in the next week or so and see if they give any performance boosts

I had problems with both installed. I uninstalled the AMD daul core optimizer and left the CPU driver and the MS hotfix on - and now no problems.

I read that both MS hotfix and AMD optimizer are trying to do the same thing, and that it can cause problems.

I currently have the AMD Optimiser + Driver installed. I also have the Hotfix installed, but minus the registry key - so it's not actually enabled atm. Works fine.
