Hi

I installed my new AMD X2 4000+ a few days ago and just realised that only one core is being utilised. I've flashed the bios, installed AMD drivers and changed from uniprocessor to multiprocessor in device manager. I'm still only getting one graph in task manager. I don't know what else to do, has anyone had the same problem ?

Thanks,
Marcus

p.s. I'm using XP Pro

have you reset the HAL to multiprocessor? - theres that program that can do it, it was on the forums someone linked to it just a day or two ago.

If you've installed a dual core processor with a Windows install that previously had a single core on it, you will need to reinstall windows in order to get it to detect the correct HAL. There IS a way of changing the HAL manually, but it's not ideal, especially not with how easy a reinstall is :)

Sorry to re-bump an old(ish) thread, but i had the same problem after my 3700+ SD.

A simply re-install of windows fixed things. :)

i have to download a little amd thingy from their website, after a installed it, both CPU's showed in task manager.

Edit: 'thingy' being the technical name!!!
