Do these CPU's run on this mobo?

Check the website and doesnt seem to say they do, wondering if theres a hacked bios or something out.

Anyone know?

X2s work on pretty much every socket 939 motherboard bar a few cheap ones and K8T890 chipsets. Whats the latest bios available on MSI's site?

Oh sweet, shouldve googled first!

First result that comes up says it supports it. Superb, thanks for the help :)

Ok, big problem here. Just updated the bios to 1c and now the computer wont post. :(

Ive tried resetting CMOS and taking the battery out for 30 mins and it still wont do a thing.

I havnt got a clue what else I can do, the update applied ok. Ran it from an MSDOS disk I made.

Any ideas guys?

Sorry I can not help, but the same happened to me so I'd be interested to find out how you get on.
I could not be bothered to fiddle around so got a new mobo and will save the Neo for when I have some spare time.

Looking at replacement boards now. Did you go for the cheap Asrock by any chance? Looks like a winner so far with the Forums (bearing in mind only read first page of that massive thread) and its cheap as chips!

I have both boards... get a cheap Neo2 off the MM. the asrock, while cheap, can be a pig at times...

shame really... but mine sits in the GF's box now, and the Neo2+X2-4200 sit in mine... and I'm far far happier with it. MSI is a superior board IMHO

Thanks guys, gonna get a replacement chip and see what I can get out of the 4800 in the Neo2.

It wont go above 230HTT (around 2.77Ghz) at the moment. On 1.55v and water, full load at 55C!!

Not too sure what to make of that speed/temp, but it aint good imo.:(

Look here for how to OC the Neo2.

Think a lot moved on to Nforce4 boards tho, so clocking your chip may not be that well covered :(

Sorry mate, forgot to add that I bought this 4800x2 with the new mobo to replace me neo2. Got the Asrock AGP/PCIE board and the speed/temp above is with it.

I had a 3200+ in the neo2 before I sodded it up :) Had that up to 2.4 though think the ram I have is a bit dodgy. Either that or the memory controller on the 3200 isnt up to much.

Just a note if you have to flash the BIOS again. Flash from the RAM drive and NOT from a floppy.
Boot on a W98 or Me floppy; put BIOS + awflash onto another floppy, transfer these to the RAM drive and flash from there.
