AMD x4 640 one core is maxed out

Have you tried looking at task manager rather than Speedfan? Might just be a bug or something.

Else, have you done anything recently which may have triggered the problem?

It's the same in Task Manager. :confused:

I don't really do anything CPU intensive, so I guess I've never noticed the problem before.
 
Check with Hardware monitor to see if that one core is running much hotter than the rest (as you would expect if it really is at 100% usage), could just be a faulty sensor or something like that.
