amd x4 955 vs i3-21

Is the sandybridge setup worth more the extra £25 quid for office type PC's (that also get used for photoshop etc)?

My first impression after looking at benchmarks is that the AMD is better by having 4 real cores.

Any opinions?

i prefere a 955 instead of a low end sandy personally

AMD cpu wins here as it has double the cores so it will be a better multi tasker which is what i'd imagine you would want in an office pc .

I've just put together a general purpose computer to use with PhotoShop etc, using the 955 processor and the following mobo which had a Firewire port and saved me buying a PCI card and using up a slot.

I'm very happy with the processor/mobo + 4Gb RAM and it runs and handles PS very nicely!

this seems to give mixed results, showing the 955 better sometimes, however not always.

But it does say its better for photoshop, also at a later date you could drop a six core in there which should help with that as well

i would just save up an extra week/month for a I5 2500k
