Brother has a amd xp 1800+. His HSF on it at the mo is a coolermaster them wide grey ones. Anyhow its rather noisy lately and was woundering whats a good performing cooler for the cpu and quiet. Somit that will keep temps about 40 ish on load would be nice.

Most of OC UK's stock of CPU coolers won't fit Socket A, and most of the really good Socket A coolers we used to use seem to have disappeared, but this may fit:

and being form Zalman should have good performance and be nice and quiet.
The Akasa 827 is available elsewhere for a bit less, but will probably be noisier.
