AMD Zen 5 rumours

Old rumour claims certainly do look funny in hindsight

Take this one for example: Where he claims 25% IPC, higher clocks speeds and ok efficiency.

Instead the 9700x has about 10% IPC, lower clocks and very good efficiency

I was going for a 9950, but I will wait to see how it compares to a 9900 which I wasn't considering before. That might be better value if the performance jump isn't there.
Having said that, I'm still excited to upgrade, it has been far too long...

Feels like a very lacklustre launch. AMD's shot itself in the foot by not releasing the X3D at the same time. Zen5 being slower then Zen4X3D in games is expected but still feels off - next gen should be faster in all scenarios.

Zen5 X3D will be truly amazing and really great CPU's. They'll probably hold the performance crown for a year or two, as they're likely to be superior to Arrow Lake in performance and power consumption.

What happened to the 25% mega uplift that all the tubers and "leaks" kept mentioning.

I think the chips have landed pretty much where they were expected but the disappointment lies mostly with the over dramatisation made about the supposed uplift.

The chips are still slower than intel in productivity programs

It’s there in a few use cases, others not so much.

Does anyone know when we will start seing mini PC's based on the ryzen ai 300? Do mini PC's normall release around the same time as laptop or do they come later?

While its only talk and assumptions many mini pc fans/owners and even myself feel maybe we might see an Ryzen Ai mini pc this fall but I reckon it will be early to spring 2025.

It took a good 6-9 months for the AMD 7735 to get stock and production going since it always gets snapped up by the laptop and mobile gaming platforms naturally before it makes it way to mini pcs.

Ah thanks pal, I'm looking forward to upgrading my 5800H mini PC, these ryzen ai 300 chips are very impressive.

My prediction - they will also cost an arm and leg, as AMD will try to milk drama around Intel, and in actual games be pretty much the same speed (few % faster) as 7000x3D series for much more money.

They are indeed, I wish we had the Ryzen ai 300 mini pcs already since I would much prefer to buy that.

With your 5800h I would not bother to upgrade till Ryzen Ai mini pcs are released, Asus Intel Lunar lake mini pcs were spotted few weeks at the recent computer shows so its possible we may see them earlier maybe this fall those maybe worth a look but as it goes AMD is doing much better with mini pcs for now.

Yeah I have been keeping my eye on Lunar Lake as well it also looks very impressive, I will wait for reviews for both before purchasing one.
