AMD Zen 5 rumours

Maybe they will come the announcement but for now they are probably sitting back and letting AMD dig their own hole with Zen 5.

Regardless of what any of these companies say I'll be waiting for 3rd party reviews before making my mind up.

As I said unlikely in the extreme. Intel have already told us it’s strategy, it’s all about Xe and accelerators.

The big unknown with ARL is whether going all out with chiplets will see any latency issues.
Either way the 100W less max power thing is very welcome - let us hope no desktop vendor will be tempted to try 300W+ mainstream CPU again for a very long time!

Intel does have access to more advanced packaging technologies than AMD which is helpful.

Concerning disastrous sales - the point is who is the market for these? At this stage it’s enthusiasts. So if you’ve got a zen 3 5 series and haven’t already upgraded the CPUs aren’t really better than the 7 series and you’re probably not going to bother with changing mobo etc. If you’ve got a 7 series forget it. The customers for the product as it stands don’t really exist.

Oems. They get to revamp thier product line with the "all new cpus"

Be honest sounds like a load of **** to get views, we already know it's down to the current situation with the CCD latencies.
Pretty sure there's normally been a slightly weaker CCD and a better one on these larger chips as well, and it doesn't matter as the all core frequency is lower than the single core frequency anyhow. IIRC the all-core frequency on the 9950X is 5.2GHz, so the second CCD is happily above this value.

As long as it meets the expected all core frequency, it doesn't matter if one CCD is weaker than the other; albeit it does make sense to keep games to the stronger CCD.
We've ALWAYS got worse silicon on desktop, with prime saved for server, where it can be sold at a premium. Remember how much cooler and lower voltage Xeons used to run than equivalent i7's?
This has been going on for decades at this point.

He is right in that we have a weaker CCD, but I think the rest of his quote is pretty sensationalist; but the guy is borderline a troll with a pretty bad attitude so is that not expected?

I'm sure AMD would have wanted people buying the new higher margin chips rather than the old lower margin discounted parts.

AMDs plan is to help Intel sell even more CPUs? Interesting business model.
Frame Chasers, he is the dumbest man on the internet, AMD use CCD parking because of the inter CCD latency, absolutely nothing to do with the CCD its self.

I don’t know the man, but did enquire once, IIRC he was described to me as a “drooling gimp”

Even in his own comments, he is being called out a LOT.
Unfortunately there will be a lot of people who don't read the comments and take this as fact.

I don't agree with everything the mainstream tech youtubers say, for various reasons, mistakes, lack of perspective, or lost touch etc, but this guy is a bit of an idiot, who tends to shout before he's even done common reading to gather information.
I can understand missing things, especially as a smaller tech youtuber, you don't have the time or resources of some of the bigger guys, and sometimes they see things in a way the others could miss, but this guy in particular is a narcissistic clickbaiter.

I take Frame Chaser's content and views if it's negative or positive as it is as the same can be attributed to the posters here.

On the other hand, Polish known and well regarded website benchmarked these CPUs with and without CCD parking and difference in performance (especially in games) has been within the margin of error. It likely varies between games and CPUs but at least for their sample it didn't make any meaningful difference.
