8960X3D will do me nicely from a 5950.
I assume it will only be partly 3D cache.Do you really see there been a 24c48t x3d chip?
I can’t see it happening.I hope the 8960X3D has 3D cache across all cores/CCX's this time, just to shut up the idiots not understanding how the 7950x3D words in regards to thread scheduling
That’s my thoughts, I don’t see it been the full cpu. Would be fun to play with if it was.I assume it will only be partly 3D cache.

Thought amd had already stated core amounts weren't going to change next gen not complaining if they have, looks like a regular a chiplet plus a c chiplet on the higher end parts, fairly crushing at the high end but the lower end looks fairly poor value.

8800 will do me after I skipped the last lot, will be my last cpu for a good time.
8 core CPU in 2024 is not the definition of longevity.
Honestly there is a little bit of technical justification in this, I suspect not all chips are of good enough grade for 3d cache.this 3d non 3d cycle is getting annoying. Just go balls to the walls AMD stop doing apple anctics, that being said i will be upgrading next year i can't wait!
? 8 cores are 100% required for current games. There are a few, such as Cyberpunk, that actually struggle with 8 cores already. Is when you only game, that is not even up for debate.
This is one reason why I'm debating myself about getting a 5950x VS a 13700k.? 8 cores are 100% required for current games. There are a few, such as Cyberpunk, that actually struggle with 8 cores already.
In 2025, when Zen5 launches, there will be even more games that struggle.
IMO a 12 or 16 core CPU bought today would have longevity for a few years, not a 8 core one.

5800x3d is degrading faster than 13700k in benchmarks though.Yeah I don't think there is any doubt that more cores should last longer, what I should have said is from my experience, I am not convinced on the utilisation outside of gaming, especially after seeing the 78003d vs the more expensive models.
