AMD Zen 5 rumours

If it ever actually happens LGA1700 may have the last laugh out of these generations for thread heavy gaming if they do release a dual 6P Redwood Cove tiles CPU. (Basically what would have been Meteor Lake but with some tweaks).

Would be a bit of an odd move competing with Arrow Lake but still rumours it is happening.

LGA1700 is dead - it ended with Raptor Lake refresh, there is no new generation/CPU coming for this platform.

thanks very much for the replies ref AM5 - does seem better way forward

I think quite a sizeable price difference though I mean 7600 is about same price as a 5700x3d but the mobo and RAM are more

I've been waiting long enough but I'm intrigued on what the benchmarks will be FS2024 6 cores vs slower 8 cores (7600 vs 5700x3d)

There's a video on YouTube with exactly that, 5700x3d is faster at all resolutions (10% or so I'd guess)

BUT

You're on a dead platform.

So, better performance now but a more expensive upgrade next time.

AM5 7600 non-X is probably very close to matching performance of 5700X3D
so thats 500 vs 530 and now splitting hairs
Yer I don't see the point unless you're already on the platform, but even then if new gen is out I'd be tempted to go on the newer platform anyway.

I imported a "cheap" 7700, but kind of disappointed so far given AM5 has gotten the flop (so far) that is Zen 5 as an upgrade.

Patiently watching Intel, also hearing it may be a 1 CPU platform without even a refresh.. but if the refresh is craptacular then it's almost pointless even releasing it anyway.

From what I've seen, the 7600/7600X are often slower than the 5700X3D in the current version (a fair bit at 1080p, less so at 1440p/4K), though it does seem to particularly like the X3D's cache and I don't know if that trend will continue. Not enough I'd want to buy into AM4 for it, but if you never upgrade the CPU I guess it doesn't matter.

specifically for FS24, cache is king, so any X3D chip will have an instant advantage...and a pretty sizeable one at that

Having just bought a 7800X3D for what I think was a reasonable deal I'm in no rush to upgrade, but it will be interesting to see how the 9800X3D does in gaming benchmarks, given that the 9000 series in general has barely outperformed the 7000 series in gaming scenarios.

Was very, very tempted by a 7900X3D for £335, but I don't need it, and this could hopefully be a sign of the 7000 series coming down in price?

I can hope.
