AMD Zen 5 rumours

That's... Better than the uplift from the rest of the 9000 series?
Not sure though they could be the gains from the rumored 400mhz increase from the 7800x3D.

Legion posted this rumor earlier today:

True, if you remove the outlier result on FC6 the other two are within the margin of error so not sure about those at the mo.

I forsee the 7800X3D's going up in price.
Its been going back up for awhile now, currently £398.99 on OCUk, Gone up again as it was £390 earlier

Think I'll skip and just keep the money for Zen 6... or get insanely drunk on new years eve.

I think that’s a fair choice…

But I’ve got to say, having bought a 9950x, I’ve not been more impressed by a CPU for quite some time.

Granted I came from a 3950x, so the uplift was always going to be substantial, but what I really was not expecting was how incredibly well these chips overclock. The architecture seems to have plenty of headroom; which I don’t think many of the reviewers have touched on at all.

PBO all core negative 30, with another -10 on mid and high loads thanks to the new curve shaper is absolutely rock solid; and it’s pushed my chip to just under 49k in cinebench; without barely touching the sides in terms of tuning.

I’m all about productivity, so my view may not align with those of you who focus purely on gaming, but this has been a fantastic generation for me.

Right now I’m holding out to get the 9800x3d over the 7800x3d. I’m coming from a 4 year old 5900x, still a decent cpu but I have that upgrade itch, Argh!

Is upgrading every generation ever worth it? Granted I only game at 1440p so I generally skip a generation.

only if it's your hobby and you have the disposable income for it lol
i went from a 5800x -> 5800x3d -> 7600x -> 7800x3d
for the games i play, i don't think i would be able to tell the difference :cry:

That would be a decent jump but GPU used will also be important

My first ryzen was the 3950x and I came from an 8700k. I was blown away by the multithread performance - the cinebench scores were like 3 times higher and it cost a fraction of what Intel had that could compete, which was the expensive 10980xe
