AMD Zen 5 rumours

Not sure 6 cores is enough for gaming though
So this is where I am at. I currently have a 5900x and need 12 cores for productivity. I have no issues with the two ccds on my current CPU. If I jump to a 9900x3d am I going to really notice when games scale across the two despite one only having the cache ? When games run on my 5900x that scale across both I never notice much of a problem. If that is the case I may just get a 9700x and wait a few years for zen 6

This is probably anb outlier but the new Indiana Jones games uses 88% of my CPU (9950X) and 100% of my GPU (4080 Super) (Ultra mode just gfor giggles)

Yeah it has all cores running on my 5900x plus other games like cyberpunk hence my interest in how the 9900x3d will perform. Just thinking that if it needs more than 6 cores like some of these games then the impact isn't that bad ? Otherwise I may as well get a non 3d cache chip.

I’ve specced up a new PC, mobo, RAM, NVMe, currently with a 9950X but I’m prepared/resigned to wait for the 9950X3D, but do we think we’re likely to get an ETA at the coming CES?

Still got to wait for a 5090FE too but I gather we should be just weeks away from seeing those.

AMD will release dates for the new CPUs at CES. They have a keynote speech.

Let’s hope we have a hard launch straight afterwards then.

Not looking forward to the alerts game for a 5090FE but I flatly refuse to spend another few hundred quid for a virtually identical AIB card.
