AMD Zen 5 rumours

massive mistake
Mistake is on AMD side. They are terrible at setting the launch price. Magnified by perf issues that were fixed later.
Still a good CPU

9950X3D would be an interesting CPU with two Vcache CCDs. But as with last gen, it will bench equal to 9800X3D. There are games that would potentially benefit from more than 8 cores, but get no benefit because of CCD latency. And lack of cache on other CCD means its safer to keep everything pinned to cache CCD rather than experiment.
I bet couple games could be tuned for this, just like Intel P-core/E-core balancing, but that would be per-game and too much work.

I think the issue mainly falls with Windows or AMD drivers not doing what they are supposed to.
Never had an issue with a 12900K, 13900K and 14900K.

The issues I get are if games stutter I keep needing to restart or if I alt/tab from games it causes the games to then stutter after - Especially in HellDivers.

The performance of the CPU seems fine when using in general but for gaming it seems a DUD.

So really don't know whether to cut my losses and get rid for a 9800X3D or wait, but March seems so long away for the launch of the 9950X3D.

Game Bar comes pre-installed with W11. All you have to do is install the chipset drivers to get the CPU to run normally, which you'd have to do anyway.
I currently own a 7950x3d and it is a great cpu. A few friends have asked if core parking is working without using game bar. I’ve explained to them how simple this is but for some reason this puts people off the cpu.

Yeah I'm also happy with my 7950X3D. Going to replace it with the 9950X3D though, as want to get every bit out of the 5090 as I can.

I think those that put off much such things as having to use w11 and the (preinstalled) game bar should just stick with consoles, PS5 Pro is a great machine after all.

I’m holding off my new 5090 build until the 9950x3d release in March. I was hoping for sooner but I can wait it’s no problem.

I have just been playing TLOU 2 on the PS5 Pro, I’m loving the console.

I have told these friends to just buy the 9800x3d as it will be a step easier for them to digest lol.

Was planning on waiting for the 9950X3D but March seems like a long way away.

Suppose it gives me a bit longer to nab a 5090FE though.

Why not make a limited number of dual X3D chips, retail them for $100 more to offset the cost, prove what they are saying or they might find that people will pay the extra $100 and with that they can make a bit more money if they keep the production of them going....

Yea if people will pay $2K for a 5090, one of these would be an easy purchase :D

Many people with money who will pay anything for the best gaming CPU but also want to have the most cores, IE an uncompromising halo product, this is what AMD consistently fail to understand, they don't need to make their CPU's expensive, but just as the 4090 exists for what it is AMD have the mind share to have a binned highest clock speed all 16 core X3D uncompromising halo product to capitalise on, they could even charge $1000 for it, plenty of people will buy it if its the best thing there is....

Look..... this is the thing, it doesn't matter if it makes little difference the point is it has a compromised feel about it, people who spend $2K + on the best GPU are looking for things that aren't compromised and they are willing to pay for it, so...... given them what they want.

Because they're saving it for the 10000 series
