AMD Zen 5 rumours

Is it still intended to release the new chipset motherboards later in the year when the 3d variant of the CPU's launch..? Thanks
"new" chipset motherboards are going to be relased, yes
whether it is at same time with x3d is unknown. Could be earlier

Thanks, when I asked some time back the September date roughly aligned with that. I wasn't sure if the news / rumours had suggested anything different with the launch of the vanilla CPU's edge closer to retail.

Can it boot windows? I’ve heard that’s a good benchmark vs some of the competition.

It booted Windows? Wow Pat,...awesome, I'll get my wallet open.

@Tetras has his wallet ready

Compared to TPU's R23 run that ^^^^ is +18%, which lines up with AMD's claimed +17% for R23.

ANyone seen much about that iGPU on Zen5.. How much faster it is than Zen4 and is AMD improving its VCE quality?

Mine got ~38.6K when I first built the PC, at stock with 5600 RAM.

Yeah, TPU are weird with AMD CPU's they always seem a bit under the average.

CPU-Monkey matches your scores exactly at 38657, that's +15%.

If it can get ~40K at ECO 65W, that would be a nice bump, mine gets ~31K.

I just watched the KitGuru Video, they are claiming they only got 36.3 in R23, to me that seems really low, he also said that stock the 9950X got 42K and with some memory tweaking got 45K.

Does memory really make that much difference in R23? It would explain why there is a 6% discrepancy between KitGuru and CPU-Monkey, if KitGuru are running the memory at 4800 with CPU-Monkey at 5600, TPU maybe at 5200.

if you already have a 7xxx series processor no point upgrading to 9xxx and very similar story with the chipset no point buying X8xx vs X6xx motherboards, not unless you need USB 4. This is how it seems to be panning out.

My RT code is a no better with 5600 vs 4800 but its not using AVX or optimized at all so? I re-factored the code just to make it easier to work with and the render frame time dropped by 50ms form ~260ms to ~210ms, think this is because it was a little more cache friendly.

Never seen memory affect much in cinebench
it's such a batched/streamed workload that CPU can usually prefetch data in advance, no matter the memory speed

maybe they meant PBO
I ballpark tweaked 7950X (or a tweaked well cooled 14900K) would score just below 40K in CB23
and if tweaked 9950X hits 45K, thats the 16% they quote

That is what i thought.... so why is there such a large discrepancy between KitGuru and others, including users, are they using an AMD box Cooler to arrive at that number?

Well, that changed nothing. Buggy UEFI it is, then.
Yeah must be. Roll back. No real point updating until you plug in Granite.

I am using 1709 BIOS for the Gene which is Ageesa 1.0.8.0. If it ain't broke, don't try and fix it.
