Im in the market for a single slot, low profile GPU and im a little surprised theres nothing from AMD's 7xxx series cards yet, only beefy desktop cards.

Is there any news about them, or a ballpark estimate for when they might be found? I dont really want to buy a 6570 only for a 7xxx alternative come out a month or so later. Im not interested in existing alternatives (AMD or nV) for what its worth, just wondering if there was information about these cards hitting the market any time?

Cheers,

Ouch, yeah thats a little more than I was expecting, and it'd require a adequately lengthed PCI-E riser if i ever bought the SATA3 card i'd like to buy one day (around the time HDD prices get reasonable again, so no time soon i guess) as theres only 2 slots and no room for a double-slot heatsink which that appears to have.
Performance wise it'd be great, but not sure i want to pay over £50, or £70-80 for a 7750 seeing as thats its entry level price point.

I'd also have to double check i even have the extra power to handle it, its only 150w and that 7750 could consume upto 75w, with CPU, RAM, 4 HDD's and an SSD, possibly another 2 HDDs and SATA card planned, and some allowance too, i doubt it'd work and i cant switch the PSU out.

I guess i'll grab whatever is available around the £20-30 mark in a couple weeks time and upgrade it if i see a justifiable performance increase reason to. For around £25 its probably a smarter buy and then wait and see, and if something comes along i've got a handy backup.

yeah, it could well be, and ive since seen theres a 'Club 3D' branded one for around the same price, and they're saying 45w, which makes sense as thats what other 7750's consume.
edit- what makes me question if its single or double is the bracket looks like a double, and the heatsink does stand out a fair bit, nothing like a desktop double shroud, but outside the boundaries of a single slot, which means it may be pressed against the case assuming it fits to begin with. However that Club 3D version looks much narrower and ive no doubt (helped by their photos) that it'd fit perfectly well.
edit2 :D having a better look, i guess its just perspective and seeing a low profile bracket on there making it look like a full size card and throwing the perspective a little. Its probably identical dimensions.

Its a 2nd system, running WHS2011, used mainly as a HTPC because the desktop system that sits next to it runs dual monitors, and connecting the TV above the monitors to that system would require a stupidly priced cable (around the price i paid for the server, or this 7750). Its also a server for my backups, media & general storage, and a test server for web development.

I have the opportunity to switch out the GF210 and replace it with a 5450/6450 for a tenner, and ideally i'd have preferred to have gone with a 7450 or similar for around the same sort of price, £25-35ish, or more if there was a nice performance bump.

I do like to mine bitcoin too, and thats where the HD7000s have the advantage over past series cards. Not only is there a better processing rate, meaning a better $ return, but it'd let me put the desktop machine to mining and let me switch to the server (HTPC/server) if i fancy jumping on a game capable of getting half-decent performance.

At £100 its not great purely for its mining power, but it might let me play stuff i'd currently have to play on the desktop pc, obviously current games i cant, but older stuff or low demand steam games would be fine and it'll free up the desktop for mining.

However... i was expecting similar but priced around £35, not £100 :D

yeah, a 5770 would work nice for me, i just cant get them in low profile.
These low profile 7750s seem like the best option, just annoying that its on par with a card i got rid of a year ago for about £40 and i'd be expected to pay £90-100 for it.
The cheaper brand versions seem like they could be picked up for £80-90 if you fancy trusting a store you've never heard of, but its still not really a bargin (infact in mining terms, my 5770 was 50% better, 6770 is 100%+).

If they do take the 6670, make a few tweaks, sell it as the 7670 in a small form factor, that would be sufficient i suspect, and it'd be in the sort of price-range i'd be happy with i'd imagine. They just need to say they'll be releasing it, and do so before xmas :D

hmm, or get a 6670 low profile if i can find one cheap, but would still prefer to go with the HD7000 version.
