A friend has asked me about a new GPU, he has his eye on a 280x from his local store which I understand he can get for a very good price (£145), but he has asked me about the 3D usage and compatibility.
I don't know the answer so I thought best to ask you guys.
According to the AMD website the old 7970 supports AMD HD3D technology, but on the same AMD website the newer 280X ( which of course it actually the same chip) doesn't list HD3D technology as supported.
Is it really the case that AMD no longer support this or just that they have omitted it from their website.
Can someone with a 280x actually check that the newest drivers support HD3D technology. thank you.
(and yes I know if you want 3D your probably better off going for Nvidia as I don't know if you can even get a 3D non 3dvision monitor, even though his existing monitor might be ok, I'll have to check.
