I've sat up all night excited about OcUK's launch of the 7970..

But at £530, no, no thank you.

Sigh :(

I was hoping, given the previous pricing threads, that it'd come out around the £450 mark, which I was, I wouldn't say 'happy', but prepared to pay.

OcUK value card @ £419.99 on pre-order, appart from that the rest are well overpriced

Waiting to see what happens with the 7950, the much lower pricing on that and hopefully if they haven't neutered its overclocking potential then when you can get a 1100-1300Mhz capable 7950 with a quiet msi type cooler for around £300, 580/570/6970/6950 pricing has to crash badly.

Thing is this card really is good, its just tamed by tdp targets(for a reason I can both understand in some ways and think is absurd in another).

Say the 7950 ends up with value versions around the £325 mark, then Nvidia and AMD do a range of price drops on lower cards and the 7970/50 follow suit not long after to be more reasonable.

I might be tempted by a 7950 around the £300 mark IF they aren't screwed up in terms of potential clock speed vs the 7970, AIB's might well screw the pcb's/power etc to limit the clock speed. We'll have to see how that pans out. £420 for a gpu, no thanks though, I'll quite happily pick up a 2nd 6950/70 from the MM for probably closer to £100 than £200. So, can't lose really.
