AMD might be looking forward to another bad quarter as their GPU and CPU market share is expected to fall further in Q1 2016. The report comes from Digitimes who have received information from sources close to the tech industry that a weaker PC market and lower than anticipated demand for Radeon cards, AMD’s market share will hit a new low in the current quarter and is expected to fall until the launch of new and competitive products based on their Zen and Polaris architecture.

Amd need a miracle. They arguably have the stronger line up at every point apart from the top end and still might be losing market share. The Cpu market is no surprise though.

It's a shame if true, I thought they would have clawed some back as they've got equally competitive cards cheaper than nVidia. Guess it shows it's not all about performance per dollar for the majority.

Nope, you can't argue with nVidia's feature set tbh (as well as being aggressive douche's to boot ;)).

I switched from a 295x2 a year ago (along with a fair few forum members) to a pair of nice eVGA 980's when Crossfire began going to **** and haven't looked back!

AMD have some massive catching up to do, but I'm hoping they can do it. Competition is very VERY much needed in this segment...

LOL,slightly clickbaity - last JPR saw AMD actually gaining desktop marketshare over Nvidia IIRC.

What are these so called "sources" - the same WCCFTECH use?? :p

AMD are hoping they'll do the same for a proper DX12 card ;) :D

Yeah, well considering the JP report for Q4 2015 showed AMD gaining desktop marketshare over Nvidia, this is another WCCFTECH level report with their "deep cover exclusive investigators" known as Mr MADET HISUP and Mr C L ICKBAIT.

I think OcUK forums should make our own clickbait news articles, and get some ad revenue and get some free hardware! ;)

Seems like it tbh. Let's hope that they are, and that Polaris is the beginning of something.....bright

No one really cares if a card is very slightly better value for money. 90% of the performance for 80% of the price is really not a big deal, people expect to pay a non-linear cost increase for increased performance. At the end of the day a game is either playable or not, being 5-10% slower likely makes little difference. Instead Decisions are made more on brand familiarity, driver support, software, and personal history.

Although I have owned more AMD cards than nvidia over the last 15 years for me I will always prefer a Mvidia option to get good Linux and Opengl drivers. I also prefer CUDA, much better support than OCL. I really don't care that a particular card is 5FPS faster for £20 less.

good for you! keep up the spirit!

Don't care my money is going onto AMD next Flagship GPU.. Share market means jack to me.

Unless they go bump within 2 years and drivers go bye-bye ;) :D :p

I truly can't shake the feeling that they're ****ed. Might not be today, nor tomorrow, but within the next few years...

Mainly due to LtMatt's massive salary of course :D

edit - Anyone here miss the old Lieutenant?? I missed that old ****-taking dude who gave as good as he got ;) :D

Even if AMD do go bankrupt, their IP, patents etc are still extremely valuable/desirable. They will be bought out, and most likely the purchasing company will continue to make GPU's and thus drivers.

I'm personally hoping that Samsung buy their GPU division. I imagine Samsung would love to bring the battle to NVIDIA :)
