AMD’s Next-Generation Polaris GPU Architecture Leaked – GCN’s Successor, Powering Pixels and Efficient Graphics Cores

"While it is known since July that AMD will have a new graphics update coming in 2016, an update on AMD’s GPU technologies has silently came from HWBattle. According to the site, we can now confirm that AMD is finally readying a massive update to their GCN GPU architecture which is known as Polaris. The Polaris GPU architecture is not the name of a single graphics chip but an architecture that will be featured across a line of graphics cards that will be arriving in 2016. "

What in the actual..... ?!?!

Seriously, who came up with these slides? Stars are the inspiration? Well, they had better come in with at least comparable to Nvidia current Power consumption with phrases like that. Only getting to their competitors power level's is kinda worrying.

How can wccftech write such nonsense, it could mean 2.5 time more powerful or 2.5 times more perf per watt.

How about it could mean exactly what he actually tweeted.

Polaris is 2.5 times brighter today than when Ptolemy observed it in 169 A.D

Well the difference will be minimal between them imho. AMD will be a bit better in power efficincy, while pascal won't be as power efficient (relative) as maxwell is.

Current nvidia cards are no miracle machines, they just stripped out everything not really needed for DX11(stateless computer, double precision etc.) Most of those features will come back in pascal for better VR/DX12 experience so i think they will lose (most of) the edge they have now in power efficiency.

As much as I want to buy an AMD card next year, anything they say before release has precisely 0 credibility.

AMD are very economical with the truth pre-release.

Maybe you will need to harness the power of a star to power the thing. Does OcUK stock Star to PCI-E adapters? :p

Drum Roll.....

"No, but they do sell Chocolate Starfish to Nvidia Fanboy adapters"

.....Cymbal Crash

Okay, Fozzie can have his job back...I'll get my coat.

:p

usualy they dont, but they surely overhyped the Fury and under delivered, sadly.
