american v8's

having done the american v8 thing with the caddy i say go for it :D I did it with the terrible fuel prices though so shipping parts from usa was eye wateringly expensive. I would do it again in a heart beat the sound is so great for the ears

just making sure your memory's still alright ;)

lol you wouldn't be the first. had someone i know drop me off the other week and he said 'now you can make it home from here can't you? i don't want to hear it took you 2 weeks to get home.... ' lol

I wonder how the new Mustang will filter through on price over here, I like very much!

(whenever there's american car threads a song just comes into my head always - CANYONEEEROOOoooOOoOooo)

Just grab copies of magazines like Classic American, American Car World and Custom Car if you want to see 'sensibly' priced stuff.

Anything that is a desirable model or perfect condition will fetch a premium so the trick is to seek out the equally-powerful yet less desireable models from other manufacturers like Buick and Oldsmobile.

Still, regardless, you can get a really nice late 60s/70s Firebird or Mustang if you do root around a bit for that kind of money....

what can i do with a 2v 4.6 Ford modular engine, 99-04ish (around 200bhp stock) ?

Well the top of the line 4 valve Cobra engine (which is blown) makes 390hp and 390ft.lb - so you can just follow that route.

You're talking about the basic engine that forms the 800BHP and 680ft.lb Koenigseig engine, so there's plenty of room for expansion :p

There's tonnes of bolt ons to get that base 4.6 up to about 260BHP and 320ft.lb, however, but after that it'll get a little more involved - nitrous, supercharging, twin turbos, head swaps, that kind of thing. It ain't the best place to start from but then again there could be worse.

The "common" Ford performance V8s of that era are all well down on output compared to the Chevrolets and were less compentent the road too. Bit of a dark era for them!
