Amflow

I've not got an ebike yet, but I've been keeping an eye on things for the last couple of years. I'd like a full suspension trail bike, and might be in a position to buy one next year.

I've previously been interested in the Whyte E-160s and Cube Stereos and hired an example of the latter for a day on the local trails, but the Amflow range has got me pretty excited.

Does anyone have one, and if so, how are you finding it? Anyone tempted to buy?

I've read that other manufacturers may be introducing the DJI Avinox drivetrain in the next year or two; I'm keen to see how the market develops.

Far too early to say about the Amflow as a frame, but the DJI Avinox is certainly a step in the right direction as far as motor and battery technology goes and is the first system that has piqued my interest enough to make me sit up and take notice.

I really hope the bike does well and the technology inside proves to be reliable and with good warranty support as that’s the only issue for me right now. I have no need whatsoever for an e-bike, but were I to buy one right now… my heart says Amflow, but my head says someth8ng with a Bosch system.

Will be interesting to see what Forbidden can do with the Avinox on their platform, as a V2 Druid with a motor would be a very intriguing proposition.

I have the e-160s from 2022/2023 or whatever

Had 0 issues with it so far but only done about 1300 miles.

Whyte do a life time warranty on pivot bearings btw for the original owner.
Also Whytes a British company


Don't knew mtbs usually come out around march/April then this years model will drop to about 70% of RRP

I've had my Stereo hybrid 160 for the past 18 months and think it's a great bike, though I've changed a lot on it.
There have been some cases of the motor mounts breaking, which is concerning, so regular checks and maintenance is essential, as with all bikes.

Hopefully this issue has been resolved on the new 2025 model with the Gen 5 motor as it uses a different motor mounting system.

The Amflow has also got me interested, I think I'm going to hold out for another year to see how reliability, warranty and servicing reports go, but from all accounts the hype is real, and it's blowing everything out of the water power wise, though many people are saying the Bosch is still much further ahead with refinement and how it delivers its power.
It's also one of the lightest full power bikes.
My Stereo is around 26kg and I definitely want my next bike to be in the 18-20kg bracket.

Personally, if I was wanting to buy a bike now I'd be looking into the lightest (around 20kg) Bosch gen 5 powered bikes, Bosch has great warranty support with loads of bike shops taking on claims, so hopefully you wouldn't have to travel far.
The gen 5 is the most refined motor out there and it still makes plenty enough power. The smart ecosystem is super easy and intuitive to use, and the customisable modes are great for tweaking how much assistance you want in each mode.

The only downside is Bosch's determination to stop and overcome any chipping methods to derestrict the bike.

If you are willing to wait for a bit longer i'd keep an eye out on the Amflow for sure.
There are also rumours that the Avinox system is going into a new bike from Forbidden, so there maybe more 3rd part bikes getting their hands on the motor yet, exciting times!

There's a few facebook groups that have owners that are all raving about them, however there's also facebook groups for Spesh/Orbea that also rave about those too! Having owned an Orbea Rise (much upgraded) for nearly 3 years now, i have liked the lighter ebike, haven't missed the power of a full fat and have only run out of battery twice (I had a range extender also, same ride, with same person, 60'ish Km and 2000m of climbing). In my experience i've found it hard to put down the extra power of a full fat on tech climbs and i could see that being even more so on a lighter more powerful bike. It's definitely on the list of next bikes to look at but i'd be waiting for the next revision so they have sorted out any grumbles and there's more experience of customer services, as would be the Forbidden mentioned above.

Regards motors, i've not had any issues with my Shimano EP8, however my mate did have to get his serviced (£120 returned) by a specialist place in Cumbria and a few others have had failures replaced under warranty. If i was buying again i think the motor would be more of a decision point for me, i have tried the Bosch motors and do prefer them to mine.
