Long story short, I was going to get an Audi RS3 but in a last minute change of mind (mainly due to the boring interior) I've decided to get an AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+ Plus.

Problem is I can't get the colour I wanted (white or yellow) but have been offered Black or Mountain Grey Magno.
I'm not convinced by it in black as all the aero/spoilers etc are black so nothing really stands out. Generally I don't likle Grey but the Matte has my interest but haven't seen one in the flesh.

So a couple of questions

1) anyone with this car and paint combo, what's your opinion, does it look good?
2) what is a Matte paint like to live with? does it mark easily? how is it to clean/maintain?

Any other info that will help my decision would be appreciated :)

I think the matt paint introduces more difficulties in looking after the condition of the paint vs the standard paint finishes. Pretty sure I read that you can’t easily polish the Matt finish in localised sections, if the need arose.

I’d go look at at used car with that paint finish see how well it’s held up.

That's what I was afraid of, I hope to see one later this week but it's new.

Just gotta be careful of chips and scratches!

I guess that's because you can't polish out any light scratches etc. ?

TBH I'm thinking it may not be worth the hassle but to get a colour I want will take 6 months :(

Just to update, yes I’m looking new although I’ve just seen a used white with 2k miles which is good.

I’ve also now seen the Matte on a new one and it’s really nice, love it actually. Just need to decide if I can put up with the strict cleaning.

Also the interior looks so modern compared to Audi and seats are more bucket/hold you in place. Obviously I can’t comment on rattles etc as not had one. The carwow review said interior on Audi was slightly better quality but boring and old fashioned.

Strict cleaning and hassle of the matte paint not worth it for me. I'd be going for the lightly used white one

What is so strict about it? The garage says it’s not much different other than having to use products designed for matte ie no polish.

Need to decide soon but was leaning towards the matte

Matte paint is too much faff.

I’d also go for an RS3 everytime.

I tried the RS3 yesterday, loved it in colour kylami green. I liked it but a few things holding me back, it’s very quiet doesn’t really make you think it’s a quick car. Interior practical but boring, the seats don’t hug you and hold you in place, if felt like I was sat on them and not in them if that makes sense. But I did like it in green :)

I’d wait for the facelift, the interior is supposed to be a bit better.

I had a 8P previously and the current model’s interior was such a let own that I cancelled my RS3 order.

Theres a facelift coming? any idea when? Audi stopped taking orders for the RS3 last year and still don't take orders so maybe they'd restart on a facelift.

I don't get why Audi won't at least allow the options they get in Eu such as the Alcantara steering wheel, colours on the airvents, colored stitching on the seats etc.. At least that would brighten it up a bit as it feels pretty drab as it is.
