is the Amiga really hard to emulate or something?

I know it has a few custom chips in it but at it's heart it's only a 7mhz 68000 processor in there.

I just put some games on my handheld, a device capable of ok Dreamcast emulator and nails PS1 level stuff.

Yes I realise it's not as simple as just that but I was shocked at how badly Amiga games run on it.
my other devices manage it ok,. inc my raspberry pi 3 but my Ambernic 40xxH can only manage about 75% speed.

or is there a setting I am. missing somewhere? Thanks.
(most games I can get surrogates from on other systems but there are a few games the Amiga is undoubtedly the best versions of (kick off 2, SWOS etc)

Yes

The custom chips or more specifically the timing between the CPU and custom chips is the biggest problem

The games I tried on my RG35xx Pro were the same, although I've not spent any time looking into it as yet.

What os and cores are you using?

oops sorry I didn't mean to fall foul of any rules. I thought emulation was ok just not piracy. if not then my bad but there are a lot of threads about these hand helds.
edit Technically Noxia is correct. sorry I have never noticed that sticky before.

hopefully mods allow a bit of flexibility so long as we don't take the .... after all a lot of the original hardware is failing now, tho some are making a comeback in a manner of speaking like the new c64 and the speccy I guess

I wasn’t trying to get you in trouble just to clarify, it’s just that I thought it was as big a no-no as mentioning competitors and yet I’ve seen some things deleted but some things not so I genuinely wasn’t sure

Ish. As long as it's kept sensible there isn't a problem
I am using the official newest disk image supplied by Ambernic, which is already set up all bar your game images.
the cores included are
puae_libretto and uae4arm_libretro

the former I think seems to work a bit better and is the default. I have not looked to install any others yet.
I shall fiddle more and also have posted on the ambernic Reddit. if I get it working full speed I will post back incase it helps others

no not at all, I would rather a heads up from a member rather than a slap down from a mod for breaking rules :)

I think Armageus is a mod so I shall proceed with caution.

Amiga Forever is just the legal ROMs really, I haven't used the latest version but it's just running WinUAE underneath it all which you can get yourself for free.

Amiga emulation is a bit of a pig to setup (especially if you've never used an Amiga before) but, once done, it's easy to use going forward. I'd really suggest YouTube and looking at some of the images that are available as it will give you far more insight.

interesting. I just watched a video with Amiga running full speed on an R36S . my lad has one of those so will give it a go on that. it should work ok on my ambernic as well as that is a more powerful machine .

Hi.
I have improved things a bit (lot) on my Ambernic RG40XXH. I was using the latest OS build supplied by Anbernic. out of curiosity I went back to the install which came with the machine and it ran so much better so have copied the old core over to my new build.

most A500 games run close to full speed (shadow of the beast games still slow).

AGA/CD32 games still unplayable at around 50% speed but glass half full and all that! (and there isn't much on the CD32 I will miss, and if I do my mate still has the actual machine )- I still feel the pain of when I bought my CD32 and paid must have been £25 for microcosm. what a waste of cash that was!)

hopefully there is a core out there which runs better on this handheld

Hopefully last post on this. after hrs of messing around I have replaced my OS with MUOS. it's going to take a bit of organizing to get it as well configured as the official front end however Amiga A500 is now aced and A1200 (AGA) with a -30% on CPU is mostly playable.. I suspect this is as good as this will get on my hardware but I am happy.
