Hey all

Just got my amiga 1200 from ebay, everything is working etc, but i dont have any games. Team17 are distributing full games/demos from their website so i thought i'd try some out.

Now is there any way to get the amiga to read the 1.44mb PC floppy disks?

I've got the ADF image of the game on the disk, but it fails to read it.

Any ideas?

The amiga uses 880K formatted DD disks. The .ADF is an sector image of that - you can't just pop a .adf on a 1.44 HD disk and hope for the best ;)

There isn't any way to write amiga disks on the PC without special hardware (like a Catweasel interface), so to get it on your amiga you'll have to look at connecting the amiga and PC with a serial cable, and finding the set of programs that will let you stream the ADF to the amiga and write it on a disk there.

That is correct. There is no simple way of getting an Amiga to read ADF images off PC disks unfortunately. If you google the subject you'll find detailed info on how to do it, if you want to :)

Been looking into it all morning, looks too complicated really. I tried Amiga Explorer with the serial cable and that didn't work, probably something i'm doing wrong lol.

Just gonna buy some original games :)

Hi, you can't find DMS extensions of the ADF's you got can you, as these are usually smaller than ADF and will fir on a 720k formatted floppy disk on the PC and then you can use Cross Dos in Workbench to read the PC disk with the DMS file on.

Then copy DMS to the Amiga via the same method to of Crossdos and then un-dms it on the Amiga Side.

You can get them from charity shops for 50p :)
but about 4 years ago some games were going for good money on auction, I thinks its flooded with Amiga games lately though so could check there but then youve got post.

It is possible to get the PC to read Amia disks and vice versa - in fact got a HD floppy drive in my BAFH (******* Amiga From Hell) Works great.

They are hard to find though and it's probably a lot easier to get the original game.
