Amiga VS PC

DOS / 3.1 was never meant for games, as soon as Windows 95 came PC gaming got a lot better. That said, Amiga was really good, lost many hours on Pinball Fantasies, Sabre Team, Theme Park and Syndicate, oh and The Settlers 1+2.

that lotus 3 footage takes me back

that and prince of persia were my first pc games

looks like i should have gotten the amiga version tho

The Amiga was ahead of it's time, with custom chips which would take of load from the CPU...

In effect it came with a built in GPU and sound card, in the early 1980's...

It's a shame Commodore had financial difficulties after the A1200.... because if they were still going then I'm sure we'd have a credible PC alternative almost 20 years later...

The PC versions in those clips just gave me auditory seizures.

I had a mega drive, and my brother had a Commodore Amiga cdtv.

I loved Gods and Rick Dangerous, also Zoom and Rock n Roll, fire and ice and loads of other Amiga games.

I LVED LOVED LOVED my Amiga A600 Hard Drive. The amount of hours I lost as a wee nipper to Champ Manager Italia, Sensible Soccer, CHaos Engine, PGA Tour Golf and so on...

OMG Barbarian! <3 <3 <3

I loved that game. I still remember web of death is diagonally up and away from the direction you're facing + fire. :p

Wish I hadn't thrown out my Amiga and hundreds of games now. :( :(

The Amiga was superb for it's day, I had an A500 then bought an A1500 for it's 'expandability', it had 2 SCSI hard drives and 8Mb in it, and I used to scoff and sneer at the people at work with their primitive PC's that didn't multitask properly.

But, that was it, I couldn't upgrade it any more without replacing the whole thing or spending ridiculous amounts of money on plug-in processor boards, so to the darkside I went.

I still have my Amiga 1200 to this day and all the games. Was one of the best Christmas presents I ever got, sitting on Christmas day trying out all the games I had collected in the months before hand. Good times

I went for an interview at Palace Software, the makers of Barbarian back in the late 80's. I'd drawn a trubute loading screen to one of their C64 games, which they were quite impressed with, and invited me to come and see them.

At that time they were in the Scala cinema in London, and were in the middle of making Barbarian. They had loads of really excellent concept art all over the walls, and toy plastic swords around the office which I imagine they used for working out the moves.

Loved my Amiga 1200, still my fondest memories of gaming.

At the time I can honestly say I got more fun out of it than I do my current rig.

Might have to buy one now!
