i have the above laptop that has a fried DC jack on the bottom of the laptop it states the DC should be 20v / 4.5a.

the previous owner has tried 2 chargers over the time they had it and smoke came out after approx 6 months of use each time, this tends to make me believe that there is too much current going into the laptop. (could be wrong :( )

I have had a look online for adapters for it and there seems to be conflicting info on what power the adapter should be

20v / 4.5a (states on bottom of case)
20v / 3.25a

Now!

I am getting a Pi2530 motherboard to replace the dead motherboard but have the same issue with the Adapter rating for this,

20v / 3.25
or
19v / 4.74a

which do i get!!!!!!!!!!!

any advice is appreciated.

20v definetely, fujitsu lappy never used 19v. Either 20v 3.25a or 4.5a. Using 20v 4.5a is better than 3.25a hence more amps is safer than less amps.

The jack has melted along with a few surface mount components next to it.
so when i get the new board it should hopefully be ok.

thanks for the help.
