Hey guys,

Just now got a call on my home phone by someone claiming to be from an internet security company saying that they have detected a system crashing virus on my pc via my IP address.

So i decided to play along with them, they asked me to log on to my pc and go to this website: www.ammyy.com and download what seemed to me a phishing/malware software. It was obvious that this was not legit so while i was on the phone with the guy i googled this and then came "Ammy phone call scam" posts. I told him that i don't need to do any of this and im more than capabale of finding this thing on my own, the guy did not persist and was just waiting for me to finish the sentence before hanging up.

So be careful if anybody calls claiming to be from microsoft or any other company. If you have been on their site do a quick cookie cleaning.

Don't give out details on phone.

I never get calls like this. I'd love for one of them to talk me through step by step removing this system crashing virus from my Linux machine but they never call... :(

I'll get rid of this virus one day...

You just say that you have a Mac, or that your computers aren't connected to the internet so there is no way that they could know ;)
That should peeve them off :P

They wouldnt be able to know anyway. if they did they would have hacked into your computer to do so which would be illegal and a breach of privacy.
