Just a quick one peeps. I've heard a lot about this game and watched a few intro movies on Youtube but not too much as I don't want any spoilers.

Is the game really that scary? I haven't played a good survival horror since Project Zero and something tells me this is something else. I could do with a good scare :D

Thoughts please.

Thanks

I would like to know as well.

Also, is it jumpy scary, or disturbing scary? I don't like screamers in games/films its just rather cheap in my opinion. I would love to have a game that actually makes me a little scared to go to bed at night :D

It's all kinds of scary. It'll totally melt your nerves and can make you jump out of your seat higher than Robbie Grabarz.

Brilliant game. Best horror experience in any medium of the past few years.

Gosh! Well, that pretty much sums it up then. I think I'm going to give it a try. It's really that disturbing you actually avoid it?

I have 2 friends who both own it but cant play it.

Headphones on. Lights off and make sure you have no liquid that you can spill near your PC.

Enjoy

As with anything scary bare in mind you will need to be playing it in the right environment.. slap it on at night, sound turned up lights off. It's the scariest game I have ever played.

Is it worse than F.E.A.R?

I stopped playing it because I hated that little girl. I'm the same as the OP, thinks its a bit crappy when something is jumpy when its just scary to the point of disturbing I cant take it.

Paranormal activity style

One of the best single player games for a LONG time imo, and by far the best horror game I've ever played.

It's the most terrifying experience I've ever had. There are no cheap jump scares like monsters popping out of the walls, it's purely the atmosphere and suspense.

I once got so frightened that I couldn't bring myself to play it again for a month :D

After playing Amnesia, F.E.A.R is more like Mario in terms of horror :p

I'm yet to find anything scary about it, then again I've not seen anything yet. I've heard some kind of monster stomping around but when I've ran to find it, nothing. Worst thing I've come across is a flying box, lol.

You say you haven't found anything scary yet you're about ten minutes into the game. Ever heard of patience? And try and immerse yourself in the atmosphere and story.

Maybe, but I've also noticed a ton of bandwagoning with Amnesia and it's scariness. I've got too many other things to play at the moment, but I'll make sure to get around to it properly. :)

It's not band wagoning, trust me, the fact you're ten minutes in says something about your knowledge of the game compared to someone who analysed every facet of the original game to learn from the scripting and level design.

It is scary, and the key factor that every person who has not been scared by it that stops people getting scared is a lack of immersion which is usually caused by them trying to win/not get scared.

Well if you try and get yourself scared, you can do that with any game. :p

What this has in favor of it though, is from the looks of things it doesn't have cheap jumpy moments like a lot of 'scary' games (Dead Space comes to mind), but an atmosphere that keeps you on edge. Without spoiling it, what are the enemies like? Are they killable?

The enemies pop up both when you least expect them and when you know they are there. The atmosphere will keep you on edge and the monsters push you over that edge. Perfectly timed, and absolutely terrifying.
And no, they are not killable.

If they have good A.I., then this sounds perfect! Last thing I wanna do though is lead one of these 'monsters' around a table or something, I hate things like that.
