hi can anyone recommend an amp for a pc which I will mostly use with headphones and listen to music and on speakers for playing games .
I do have some old speakers which will do for now but please recommend some for when I upgrade .

I did read the sticky but that is old my budget is about £200 more or less . I have looked and found
DENON PMA520AE
DENON PMA720AE
CAMBRIDGE AUDIO TOPAZ AM10

or should I go for something else

thanks

I have a pair of akg headphones (not sure of model number) headphones and would prob go to another £200 for speakers

Well that's not much use then as we won't know whether the amp is suitable or not :p I think for your budget you're better of getting a separate headphone amp for the headphones as an av amp isn't going to cut it I'm afraid.

Buy an AUNE T1 (there is a thread in sound city about them go read it) for your headphones they are roughly £120 and no headphone dac amp under £200 is better from the research I done. I have one you see.

You can then use the line out of the AUNE T1 to power some active speakers in future.

I am thinking of getting a pair of the beats studio headphones or hd650 very soon if that helps

Bit of a (read colossal) difference in sound quality and price there. Also a substantial difference in how hard/easy they are to drive and so their amping requirements.

Recommending an amp requires a bit of a better idea with regards to what speakers you'll be looking at and exactly which headphones you'll have. Active speakers wont require an amp, and so Sonny's suggestion is a very good one. If, however, you want passive speakers then you need an amp capable of sufficiently powering the speakers whilst also having a good enough headphone out.

With regards to the amp, do you want any other features, like bluetooth connectivity etc?
