hi, been lurking on theese forums for a while and decided to post.

just got my first car recently, the previous owners have removed the amp and i assume there was a sub in the boot as there is a cable left, but they left me with a head unit and 2 JVC 120w speakers in the back all wired neatly with the cables left open under the dash, they have connected the original speakers back up. so i was wondering what i would need to buy to get the speakers working and how much this would set me back.

thanks a lot :) , probably go with something like this as still in school and a bit low on cash after gettin the car, insurance and learning to drive.

is it meant to be more important to have sound coming from the rear or have i missed something?

IMO, if you really want to buy a small 2ch amp, use it to run the fronts. the fronts are more important if you want a decent sound. having vocals, trebble etc coming from behind you is wrong, in which case... why spend money on that, just get the headunit to power them... its going to sound gash in any case

ergh 6x9's, I got a friend who thought his 6x9's gave better base than my 2 12" subs lol
You want an amp on ** front speakers really and then the headunit on the rear, otherwise it will all sound as if its coming from behind you which will be strange and sound naff, I'd just get a decent head unit then change the fade/balance on it to make bring the sound stage towards your seat
