Hello folks,

After making my Cisco switch quiet, I now want to add a couple of 4" CC's to it.
But, the only available power source is 240VAC.

I have had a look on an electronics store, and the only one that will fit is a 1A power supply.
Does anyone know how many amps a pair of 4" CC's and/or 12" CC would use?

I have hunted on google but there seems to be a lot of different uses for CC's. :p

Thanks.
(I've never managed to get my multi-meter to measure current... Think I need to RTFM  )

EDIT - Some adding of words into Google seemed to find one make of CC's taking 500mA (+- 30mA).
I take it all will be around the same value - Therefore 1A being plenty??

I expect 1A is enough. The invertor will be the item that says if anything (the CC current should be tiny but is at a high voltage, invertor effeciency will effect any extrapolated values so a measurement must be taken really). You are trying to measure the current in series yeah? You need to break part of the circuit and connect the multimeter across it, unlike with voltage which is measured in parallel. Also remember to use the 10A setting as it seems it will be over the 250ma max of most meters fused range :)

Spot on - Thanks. :)

I knew that it had to be in series - Just there was an unsettling 'click' and the device wouldn't actually power up any time I've tried it previously.

The multi-meter was a cheapo £10 one tho. :D
Will give it another try once I find it again.
(Moved flat, seen it when I first moved, it's not been seen for a while now)
And probably increase the setting I had it at originally.

Just finding out if the adapter I've found is 3.5cm or less in any one dimension.
(Casing etc will be ripped off to get it to fit)
