I've just got a pair of 200watt PA speakers cheap. My mate bought them brand new and used them once for a party, and never used them again. His Mrs has been on at him to get rid of them for ages so I got them for £25. Bargain.

Now, I will be adding these to my current setup - 2xTechnics 1210's, a Vestax PCV180 mixer and a Numark Axis 9 CD deck.

At the moment i've got one active speaker which I use as a monitor. Im thinking of placing 1, or maybe both of these new speakers towards the back end of the room just to boost the overall volume up a bit, keeping my monitor in front of me.

I'm going to need an amp or could I run it off an old hifi? - I don't know much about passive speakers, i've always had active ones in the past. If I did get an amp would it have to give 200watts per channel out, to power the speakers sufficiently?

How much should I be looking to spend?

Many thanks. :)

Cheers for the quick replies.

Yeah, i've got my monitor which is perfect for monitoring the mixes etc and is more than loud enough for me, but its not too loud at the other end of the loft. Plus I just couldn't turn these down at £25!

Will have around at amps, i'm sure i've got an old Kenwood seperates system somewhere though so I might them off that to start with.
