As per title, I'm looking for an amplifier for my recent purchase of Dali Option 6. At the moment I have a Yamaha As501 which is driving them well but I not sure if it's worth upgrading from.

I thought about Yamaha AS2100 but open to other suggestions at a similar price point if the upgrade is significant from my current amplifier. Thanks in advance guys.

What do you feel is missing from the sound at the moment?
Most of the songs that I listen to starting from acoustics, EDM, dubstep, tropical house, chart music and so on sound perfect to my ear. However, when I listen to Metallica i.e. black cd it seems quieter than other songs and lost at times? Don't get me wrong it sounds good but it feels something is missing. Options are my first speakers which I had for 2 weeks and listened to them for over 40 hours now. I went from concerto Ones and this is a huge difference in sound quality

Where it's just one CD then I'd suggest it's the mastering on that disc.

Where you're finding anything with large-scale full-crescendo passages seems to shrink in size then that's a sign that the amp is running out of steam at the volume you're playing.

Throwing a tonne of cash at this though based on a bit of a chat on an Internet forum probably isn't the best idea. You really need the help of a good dealer ('good' = someone interested in finding the right answer for mor rather than simply making a sale). Buying additional power can be an expensive business. You really need to be sure that that's the problem to be fixed and not something else.

Two options

If you feel power is lacking add a power amp to your existing Yamaha to drive the speakers, or add matching Yamaha power amp, or two other brands two X two channel power amps to bi amp.

If you feel the Yamaha pre amp is lacking change that.

Thank you for your response and your honesty. I never listen to music more than 9-10 o'clock of volume so roughly 30-40% of amplifier volume. Anyway I've found the issue, it is the amplifier going south, it trips to power protection despite the fact temp in my room is 20 degrees Celcius and it is well ventilated. I'll be going to richers soon to get it sorted. Checked my speakers with my brothers up and all sounds good without the issue described above.
