Got my selection just after i go to Amsterdam i will be drugs tested on it. I could take 0 substances in Amsterdam but where would the fun be in that ? :D Does anyone know what the army will do if they find drugs in my system on my selection ? I know for a fact that its a 0 tolerance policy when your in and i wont be taking anything when I'm in. But a friend told me they let him off for cannabis in his urine when he was drugs tested on selection, is that correct or is he chatting bubbles ?

Thanks.

No class B/C 6 months before, no A 12 months before. No current alcoholic dependency or ongoing depression treatment.

Assuming the rules haven't changed.

i dont think theyd be too impressed

i do think you could possibly argue about it not being illegal where you took it but is it really worth risking your future career over one weekend away ?

Further to my first post above. I was in the Army for 12 years. My wife was in the Army, in fact that is where we met and married many years ago.

My son is currently a Sergeant in the Parachute regiment and his wife a Senior Air steward in the RAF. Thought I would just mention this to show I'm not guessing at your chances. :(

As an ex-officer in the RM, if they find anything in your system at selection, a retest will be done and if it is still positive its goodbye. Stay away from cannabis for at least 30 days if you are an occasional user, 90 days if heavy. If you taking anything else then the 6 month rule would apply. Trust me, there is zero tolerance on this. Random drug tests for enlisted men if positive, result in dishonourable discharge on almost every occasion.

They don't do drugs test on selection, they do a urine test, but that's for other medical reasons, not drugs. Trust me, drugs tests in the Army are much stricter and more controlled that the urine test you do on selection.

Their thought is it's up to you what you do when you're in civvy street, but as soon as you get in, you follow their rules.

My advice though, stay away full stop :).
