I was in New York last year. As I was walking around the Greenwich area I came across an unusual sculpture in a small garden area. Looking closer I realised it was the AIDS memorial which is close to the hospital that treated many of the early cases. For younger people it's hard to convey just how frightening that disease was before modern treatments. It was a death sentence.
