I really HATE nero nowadays. It always crashes on me, its slow, its full of bloated additional extras that im simply not in the slightest interested in... I want to purge it from my life.

Are there any alternatives that can do everything nero can? specifically i just need the ability to burn data, image files, movies and audio cds.

does anyone else loath nero also? or is it just me?

ther is a free program called dvd creator by so think i use for creating dvds sometimes and it is just as good as nero but if you dont mind having different programs for different functins you can do it easily

I think i might go down that route. Im just reinstalling my OS... the thought of reinstalling nero was making me cringe. I thought someone must do an alternative complete package that i havent heard about... maybe not, i guess people just use a bunch of free apps like imgburn etc.

ImgBurn is very good.

agreed !!!! :) the trouble is for data and audiocds etc that means i need other apps.

Ashampoo is really good and quick to load, full of usefull tools.

i just downloaded the free trial of this and burnt a disk. pretty impressed. thanks for this recommendation. I will need to use it more intensively to elevate my opinion to very impressed... but i like it more than nero already.

Glad i could be of service, been using it for a while now. It's good stuff !

Can't believe no one has mention this already, ConvertXtoDVD is by far the best and fastest program out there for burning DVD's, converting an avi to dvd takes me about 4 minutes!

Have you looked ay Roxio Creator 2010. I only mention it "for completeness". It probably suffers from the same problems as Nero. I too hate Nero and have been using a very simple package called "Ones" from TX Software's site. Ones is not free but there is a thirty day free trial.
