Ok Folks

I have been using Aperture for a while now and I love it... But I keep thinking should I have the Aperture Library on a external HD where the be plenty of space to work within rather than my MBP HD which is now coming down to about 40gig available...

But If i had the Library on a external HD can I still be able to preview my pictures on the MBP when am away from the External?

OR what is the best way to do this set up

Best way, I wager, would be to export all your projects to iPhoto. When you export the projects they go out to iPhoto as jpegs, quality of which you can change in Preferences > Previews.

If you do that then just move your Aperture Library to your external, Aperture will get all confused next time you run it and allow you to point it to the Library's new home :)

I think i give it a try.... But what i want to know is if I have the library on a external drive and i was away from home it be hard to use aperture wont it?

If it can't find the library it'll ask you to make another when you open it. All you'd have to do is get into good habits with merging the two libraries back together when you get in, and not ending up with multiple libraries all over the place.

Easiest way is to export the new projects you've made as .approject files, bin the library, then import them into the main library.

Or rather import them into the main library then bin the library, just in case :D
