Would this be possible? Say my Acer E1-571 or even I used my Atom netbooks (one is a dual 'un) I rebuilt and used as a desktop - well server. So desktop (or laptop mobo) and 3210m i5 with hd40000, SODUMMl - tbe funny thing is. parts like keyboards, screen that is the laptop setup being cut as it lays in a cubic filth, it's headless and mainly a fileserver where cpu can take it's time but it needs multiple hdd's so 3x 4b,1x 3tb )media) and drill the OS on a partiti0on or SSD it.

One thing is quietness, upside of lappys is near fanless ting going on.

I have two of these lappers and 2 even near 3 netums even a raspberry and boy o boy just thought even use a phone. LOok at the specs of some phones I got second oppo fimnd 5 with damaged mic so that'd be cool on dam small Linux or a arch setup no gui or just android even and somehow have 5x big hdds bigger than the phone.and

Away from them are spare rigsdesktop 32bit amd 3200+ comp with poor ram and just 256 which IMO was the problem they had, yes I got it free for a favour, it has a mx440 but nice AGP slot and really old Celeron 2.4GHZ,512mb with god awful onboard vid and only PCI expansion (When I bought this igt was flipping the crystals of the sand) - both are microatx...


Thinking sticking SATA ports on the mobo wearing only my socks and watching that horse that is sally Webster,while using bluietack that might be a good idea.

Is there an easy of adding hdd's?? to a laptop like a wangsful?PCI(E) and add then hookup power from PSU or separateand host inside case? I like tbe HP Microservers thing that holds em and the SAS plug. Summit silmber but externally host the 4/5 hdd's (If it was nano itx or a\ raspberry pi.and use esata, usb2/3, firewire.

So end spec.

GPU : nowt importance
SFX play jingles or have some mp3, flax playback
cpu / mobo - varies
hdd multiplen may need sep power or be installed into a sep case ie a bare modded micoatc/n-itx
case, small cube or xboxy thing
panels, gui? system health
power? underclock? it for it's idle or summit - ideally draws super small power and even build a cluster buddy incase it needs some help (like gears of wear, raspberry can't do iut soo gets the Emachines 390 awake)
OS? Linux* server
Role:r FILE, RDPVNC,security+home automation, downloadin some stuff innit and if I could a TV tuner say 1sat 1 t and radio for the house to share slots but radio allows me to listen to radio at nighth and the ol\ ttp, vpn etc

Solaptop spares of use? or netbooks? Mind you Nettops you get which are like netbooks and work nice for htpc extenions or simple server

I had some spare laptop bits before and was planning on using an old freeview box I think to try and mount the parts inside.

Didnt really go ahead with the project though, it was only for some media playback.
 
suppose the messing aint workth it but how does the specs compare?

I have a broken hp ms. Motherboard (RED LIGHT). I got a PCI MOBO code thing, the idea is it goes into the slot and boot then you get errpr. atm NO error but red screen can It take a speaker for bios? maybe I know why then.

Claim 50-100 cash back I hope I can get as I bought at right time but no printer, is it possible I can? then return for repair

The cpu demand is low

what power dpes hpms use idle? is my asusrouter that dl's better or get this sorted? Shall I remove mobo on HP and try out of box -can I remove a cpu and seeif other works or is it single? Best seeing if I can refund who toi seller or manufacor?

I may have matx, ram and CPpu are 3200+ AMD 32bit and a dual core amd and maybe a triple core mobo/case?

It's a mistake to re-purpose the laptop as a server. You need something designed for the task. Eurocom have a solution to your conundrum, in the form of their Panther 5SE.
 
I have no idea what the original post was about, but from the title I'd say don't use a crappy old laptop as a server. A Raspberry Pi should suffice.
 
I kind of get what you're asking, but were you drunk when you posted that?

Either way, for a home environment no reason a netbook wouldn't work. Production environment, do it properly.
