I still have faith this will be an extensive remake with modern graphics & gameplay.

Skyblivion is bringing Oblivion up to modded Skyrim levels of visuals & gameplay. Bethesda kind of have to outdo that, otherwise many (on PC at least) are just going to opt to wait for the mod instead.

I'm sure there's a market for a mere visual remaster. But I doubt it'll be a huge market. Oblivion hasn't aged well from a gameplay perspective.

On the other hand, the rumour that it's releasing on Xbox One is reason for caution

Well, IF's
IF it is UE5
IF it is buggy and half finished in the normal Bethesda style (although this appears to be fully outsourced)
IF there is no Creation Kit due to UE5
IF no existing mods work.

Then I think this will be a miss and only for console players.

Reskin and all Oblivion DLCs is simply too little too late. All of Bethesda's TES and Fallout really need quality of life mods IMO and are pretty unusable without.

I was under the assumption it was a release in the week starting 21st, people seem to have taken that as a precise date.

The remaster is by Virtuos, not Bethesda btw. They were involved in a Cyberpunk update. (E: And the not yet released MGS 3 delta it turns out)
