It looked pretty dodgy for some reason, I traced the file back to system32 and I just wondered if its something I accidently installed with something else because I thought Microsoft would want you to be using IE. Anyone had this before?

I'm pretty sure this is to do with the 'Browser selection' update that Microsoft were forced to make as part of the EU regulations. I.E They must offer a choice due to them being the dominant company in that sector, peoples right to choose etc.

For example you would be given a choice of either IE or Firefox or Opera or Safari to download.

Not installed this update so could not confirm for sure.

It's hilarious. Most people I ask also just thought it was a spyware-style popup and they just closed it immediately.

It looks like a college intern designed it :D

A very annoying lil thing that is, kept being displayed every time I restarted my machine :(
Had to edit the msconfig to stop it from running on start-up

Yeah the same. It kept coming up after every restart so in the end I just clicked the Internet Explorer option and it didn't bother me again.

Well if you turned off auto updates from auto installing but notified you instead you'd have seen that browser choice was an optional install!

Yeah, I think they might want people to close it... otherwise what's with the total lack of design?

stupid EU rules

why I hate the EU, they stick their nose in were it does not belong....

what about Macs with safari ?

what about iphone/pod with safari?

same thing and no I m not picking on apple at all.
