I installed the sony erricsson software for my mobile phone as it was the only way to stop about 5 added new hardware windows popping up when i plugged my phone into my pc.

The file management software that installed with the drivers had placed an icon on my desktop which cannot be deleted. ive tried through the command prompt and looked around on the interweb to no avail.

How the hell can i get rid of it?

Cheers.

I've yet to find a single mobile phone company who's programmers don't seem to have anything higher than an 11+ in IT.

Sony and Nokia are my pet hates when it comes to this.

Try ctrl alt del and see if there is any software that looks like sony erricson and close it... then try deleting it.

or try something stupid like renaming it.. or changing the file extension to something else then deleting it.

make sure it dosent load when you start up ... there is a quicker way when you go through "start > run" (forgot it) however use winpatrol from downlaod.com ....great programme...it sometimes gives you definitions of the programme so you can see what it is and wether or not you want to "kill" it

The EXE that is placed on the desktop with Sony's PC Suite is actually the program executable file. If you delete it, the program will fail to load.

Either put up with it, or uninstall it when you don't need it. ;)

I thought as much. as i have tried renaming etc...I dont use the program but i cant be dealing with loads of added new hardware windows everytime i charge my phone!

I'll try uninstalling to see if it leaves the drivers on there.

You can un-install it fine (for my k750 you can anyway). Next time you need to install drivers let the new hardware thing popup and let windows find the drivers from the cd each time it pops up and you won't need to install any of the software.

It is not an Icon it is and EXE file placed on the Desktop and he cannot delete it because it is either running or another process has a hold of it.
