An Interview with Epic Games' Mark Rein on Tom's Games talks further with Epic exec Mark Rein about the new PC Gaming Alliance: "At Epic Games we have our narrow view of PC gaming. We make these high-end action-movie type games that really push hardware. That's our whole raison d'être. Our view is pretty narrow so you have to take it with a grain of salt but we're interested in preserving the ability to ship those high-end shipped-on-a-disc super high-end experiences that... I said 'high-end' twice. That's how high-end; double high-end. That's our goal: to preserve the ability to ship those kinds of action-movie type games on the PC."

TG :Were you pleased with the sales of the PC version of Gears or War?
Mark Rein: Yeah it's doing OK actually.

Mark Rein: Oh Gears of War. I thought you were talking about Unreal Tournament. Sorry.
TG: No, Gears of War on PC.

Mark Rein: I don't know. Yeah... I think... you know... I don't know. I haven't really thought about that. Let's move on to a different question.
TG: Has--

Mark Rein: Gears of War is a console game.
TG: Well why did you put it on PC?
Mark Rein: I don't know.

I think my iq level just dropped reading Mark Rein's words

Well.. it is the same guy that was pimping ut2003 like it was the second coming, they seem to deny any knowledge of that games existence these days.

Why did he include him going to get a cookie in the interview? That's terrible editing, and has nothing to do with any topic.

Mark Rein: Hang on, can I stop and get a cookie?

TG: Oh yeah, please go ahead.

Mark Rein: I'm starving.

[Rein heads for the snack table and returns with two sizable chocolate chip cookies.]

Mark Rein: Sorry.

TG: That's OK.

Mark Rein: You want one?

TG: Yeah, sure.

See what you mean , didn't even notice that :D

If they did give up on pc gaming theyre really nobody to blame but themselves. Personally i think too many pc devs are misreading the market and thinking people want games that have an old style to them, last i read ut3 on the pc was selling miserably..maybe people are just fed up with the formula being messed with? Just move on i say.

I remember Mark Rein in an interview stating they wanted the UT series to be like madden with new versions every year. Then we had the delayfest that was UT3 that came out to little fanfare at all. We then get "Cliffyb" essentially throwing a hissyfit because ut3 isn't selling well and threatning to develop specifically for consoles.
