An odd chipset temp problem

Fairly recently I built a new Core 2 Duo PC based on an E6600 and a Gigabyte DS4.
When I first built the rig everything seemed fine and my temps seemed pretty low but around what others were getting for C2Ds. My System temperature was around 36 idle and 40 load.
I then decided I would have a go at overclocking, and got 2 new fans to increase air flow over the RAM and the Northbridge heatpipe.
I had a go at OCing my machine and have managed to achieve around 340x9 fairly stable (not breaking records, but a decent improvement over stock).
Now whether Overclocked or not my system temperature is at around 48 degrees and doesnt change whether at idle or load.
My thinking is that it could be that while playing around with my rig I have managed to disturb the contact between the NB heatsink and the die itself.
Would it be worth trying to reseat the entire heatpipe cooling system with AS5?

Thanks, LS
