Hello guys. New to the forum. Come across it as i was searching the site for a new gpu and psu.

Looking for a new gpu and been looking at the ati 4870 for the past few weeks. Know i notice that the 4890 has just been relased. Is it worth getting this as i notice it aint a vast improvement.

Also i would be in the need of a new psu as my current psu is only a basic one that came with it around 1.4 years ago. Recommendation on a psu would be good as i aint to familiar what is a top brand.

Thanks to eva reply.

Hi and welcome to the forums, it all depends how much you want to spend really as to whether you should get 4870 or 4890, as well as what resolution you game at/what size monitor you have? re PSU Id look at something around 600W by a decent brand such as BeQuiet, Corsair, Zalman or Coolermaster, if youre thinking about adding a 2nd card in crossfire later maybe then it'd be worth getting a 750-800w PSU now so you dont have to upgrade again. Id recomend looking at this one personally. It might seem like a lot to pay for something which doesnt effect the performance of the system but it really is worth investing in a good quality PSU

Well i would say tops £250 quid spend. Monitor right now is 22inch but in the future i can expect bigger one with hdmi etc.

Yes i kinda knew the psu had to be expensive as there better and a worth doing.

So its kinda looking like a 1 gig 4870 and a decent psu. But is the 4890 worth looking at or even an nvida thats as of equal power.
