An upgrade itch!

Ok, long story short. i was given a broken alienware laptop for free. If i got it working, then i had a new laptop, if not then it was to be thrown away. I couldn't get it working so i gave it to a shop to look at. 3 months later (after ordering new parts) Turns out its the motherboard and they don't recommend replacing it.

So thats that. i've got 300 to spend. Thing is, i've JUST got a whole new pc:

i5 2500k
asrock extreme4 gen3
8gb corsair dominator
580gtx
H100
HAF X
850w psu
Blu Ray rw
23" Dell ultrasharp
and an SSD

The other thing is i dont even need a laptop, but the past 3 months i've been downloading linux stuff(fancy messing about with that) and been excited to get the laptop, so i've had it in my head that this money's getting spent. But i cant seem to shake the fact that i dont need to spend the money but im left feeling i NEED to buy something haha(terrible i know).

I've been told under strict instructions from the girlfriend NOT TO BUY ANYTHING so close to christmas haha. Which is fair enough. i could always put more money in and she would be happy to put money towards something. But what else is there? Is 3d gaming worth it? possibly no point in water cooling since its only the graphics card left and thats pretty quiet as it is. So im in a bit of a pickle :rolleyes:

sorry but your post is a bit confusing, are you saying you've got the pc with the spec listed or what you're looking at?

There's nothing there that I can see really needs an upgrade. Only thing I can think of would be peripherals like keyboard/mouse etc. You already have a tidy monitor by the looks of it. I wouldn't waste the money though, save it or spend it on something else?

whats the make/model of the psu?

so what exactly is the question? what do you want to upgrade? no point in upgrading the new pc.

Fowler - My question as stated "But what else is there?" I dont need to upgrade the pc, but maybe buy something else for it. I've got a sound card and some nice headphones. just cant think of anything. Moody, you could be onto something there! Since i spilt lemsip onto my Saitek Eclipse keyboard, i've been using a TERRIBLE keyboard and my mouse, a Razer Lachesis has been messing up. As in when im aiming at things, it jumps across the screen and i sometimes end up doing a 180 or 360 spin haha.
