(ANAND)How old is your primary GPU ?

Current 730 GT 1.25 years, bought after selling a TX to just drive two monitors. As I go through periods of little time for gaming, for a while now I've bought a brand new GPU to play a few games for up to 5 months then tend to sell the card as I know by the next time I have time and want to play some new games there will be new cards out.

Next card I might just keep though, probably will buy the top end of what's out at the time, either a Ti or TX, hence the last two cards have been a 780Ti and then a Maxwell TX.

R9 nano in my main machine bought Feb 2016, 7970 downstairs and my wife has a 6870. 7970 will be updated soon just waiting around for the right deal to come up.

My 7950 is nearly 4 years old which is a bit bonkers really as historically since buying my first 3d card in 1998 I've never had a GPU for longer than about 2 years. I guess that's what having a kid does, no time for gaming so haven't felt the need to upgrade. To be fair it seems to do OK in games I've tried it with, I think it is a fairly well balanced card so has a decent shelf life (3GB VRAM isn't bad for a 2012 card).

I probably would have got the GTX480 that was on offer for under £200 if it hadn't sold out though.

As a rule of thumb I typically buy cards in the £150-250 range if I spot a 'bargain'. Last few cards were 7950 @ £206, GTX460 @ ~£150, GTX280 @ ~£240. The 7950 and GTX280 were (relatively) new but had dropped in price a lot, the GTX460 was EOL. I see some modern GPUs described as a being at a great price but when it is over £300 I find it hard to justify unless it was something truly game changing (say something more than twice as fast as a 1080).
