First off - I think it's okay to post this here.. if not - sorry.

I have a Motorola XC68040RC40M (M68040) that requires urgent cooling - it live s on an Apollo 1240 accelerator that resides in an old and trusty Amiga 1200 (retro sites have already been asked).

Chip dimensions are roughly 46x46mm. The issue I have is the clearance above the chip isn't too great - it starts at about 8mm and increases gradually hitting 15mm at 25mm into the chip and around 20mm at the outer most edge.

I know there is no ready made or simple solution for this - but you obsessed cooler type people out reading this might perhaps know of some very low profile heatsinks and fans (I've not had much luck in finding anything that I can adapt to this problem).

Helpful suggestion would be appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the replies - I'd figured some cutting will be involved but even so I'd appreciate some suggestions with regards something in the way of which low profile fan or heatsink to use.

The trapdoor cover has to stay off as it won't fit anyway MeatLoaf.
