Title messed up (Logitech Driving Force GT is the wheel)

Hi all, I bought Dirt2 yesterday while the offer was on and I was quite happy with my purchase until finding out that I can't use the above wheel. Apparently the Logitech Drive Force Pro is supported so why isn't this one? I'm pretty sure the wheels are nearly the same(?).

Is there anyway I can actually get this to work? I've been looking at registry tweaks / xml editing and non to any avail.

Any help is appreciated.

(I can map the controls manually in game but that means most of the functions are disabled, for example, instant replay controls.)

I've took this post from the one I've posted on the codemasters forum.

Other post including the registry tweak

http://community.codemasters.com/fo.../402401-logitech-driving-force-gt-config.html (I don't think it works on windows 7)

Thanks :)

My wife has the pro version...works perfect...no help to you though..i have heard of the reg hack for your wheel but dont know if it works.

Any chance you could do this and take a screen shot for me please?

Go into the registry and click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Press F3 to do a search...

Type "Logitech Driving Force GT USB"

click find next and screenshot what comes up?

I might be able to have a play if I know what I'm playing with :)

Thanks

Cheers mate, I really appreciate that. I'm going to have a play about in a bit and see if I can get it to work.

Thanks again :)

I had a little play about but I just can't get it to work. I've emailed codemasters support team so I'll see if they get back to me. I won't hold my breath though :)

Thanks again

Yes mate, that's the wheel.

I can actually race with it but it's uncomfortable switching between keyboard / wheel to navigate the menu and little things like the instant replays :(

its probably the drivers for 64bit win 7, they might fix it

as apparently it is compatible, well they always said it was a playstation steering wheel lol

I don't think it's the drivers mate, on the codemasters forums it's saying that the wheel isn't supported. As far as it being a "playstation wheel" it provides a great experience on need for speed shift. I think codemasters have something to sort out if EA can manage it :).

well it is, they never made it for PC as we had the G25 now G27, but they relised it worked on PC so had some drivers out for it.

apparently too the review I managed to see, I m sure I seen it work with dirt 2 as well  again that could have been a PS3 easy :p

Well codemasters should have known that the wheel works if the DFP works fine with it. It surely can't be hard to release a little patch to add in some support for the wheel.

The wheel actually works it's just a shame that the menu functions etc won't. I emailed their customer support but I don't think they care tbh.

Also, if EA can do it, why can't CM?

I just got a DFGT on RMA since my DFP started going crazy. It's sooo much better than the DFP, it's more of a baby G25 tbh.

Tried it on Win 7 x64 with Dirt 2 demo and all plays and works just fine. Yes, it doesn't control the menu functions, but my DFP didn't either, nor did it in Grid, or LFS or race 07, or GTR2 etc. In short, I just make sure the mouse and keyboard are within reach and it's fine. You could consider getting one of those wireless keyboard/touchpad combos if you sit a long way from the PC with the wheel.

I think I just got used to being able to navigate the menus on shift with the steering wheel because it is a lot easier.

Can you navigate the menus with the supported wheels? (G25, G27) etc?

every time I seen a race car set-up I ve seen the mouse and keyboard being right next to the seat, so I m not so sure or just lack of confidence that it would :p

I don't know the answer to that question I'm afraid, I've never tried. Lots of people with G25s on here though, perhaps they can help.

The DFP was certainly officially supported in Grid, but didn't control the menus. It has all the buttons to, like the G25/G27.
