Rockstar Social Club!

Had Max Payne 3 for a while now and have never gotten past the second level so I thought I'd install it and complete it. I own it retail (from OcUK funnily enough) and installed it, updated a few patches and when I launch the game it says enter to continue. So I press enter and up comes the R* Social Club login screen, so I enter the details and the sign in button greys out and nothing happens, 10 minutes later I close the game and sign in via the website and it works. But each time I try and log in to the social club in game it won't sign in, and you HAVE to be signed in, in order to play the game. Yet each time I try it just hangs there doing nothing.

Am I going to have to crack this? Anyone know any solutions to this rubbish? I've forwarded the correct ports via their troubleshooting but no dice. Annoyed.

EDIT: Seems that the DRM is experiencing issues due to the GTA V surge in the iFruit app thing, maybe it'll fix itself... Of course those news articles are 3 days old that report these issues, and here we are.

Its cause of GTA... give a week to sort itself...

I still find it incredible that they spent 250 millions on the game and it went into profit on pre-orders alone...

No one gave a damn that xbox and ps3 will die very soon. Its worse than apple... 1 billion in 3 days and thats without PC version for now, if they sell it on PS4 and new xbox and PC they could easily make another one.

Last time I played it which was about a month ago you didn't have to be signed in to play the single player at all. Just press the Home key and the Social Club box should disappear... :p

Edit: Rockstar's support page says it's mandatory, is that the same on Steam too because I definitely remember playing a Rockstar game without signing into Social Club! Maybe L.A. Noire...

Yeah you have to be signed into it to play single player, and it's not letting me.

Question: Do I need to sign up for with a Rockstar Games Social Club account in order to play Grand Theft Auto V?

Answer: You do not need a Social Club account to play Single Player in GTA V.

Wish you could say the same for Max Payne!

Never had issues with it, an extra login screen not a big deal, it's been dodgey the past week due to the biggest game of the decade. People tend to get angry when they have to click an extra button

I've been having exactly the same problem. Started earlier this week when I tried to play it for the first time and it said I had to link Steam to their Social Club, but I kept getting an error. Now it won't even login so the problem seems to be getting worse!

I raised a support ticket and it keeps being closed as answered with them telling me to check my router/firewall settings. As loads of people are having the same problem and the Steam forums for Max Payne 3 is full of threads about it, Rockstar either don't have a clue or are just fobbing us off!

Uh... what? Are you saying that it is perfectly acceptable that people are unable to play a single player game that they bought, because a completely unrelated game was released and is so popular it brought down their DRM system?

This. I'm not angry because 'I have to click an extra button', I'm angry because I'm stuck on the introduction screen that won't proceed until I log in to a DRM that's been broken by a unrelated game that isn't even on PC.

I can log in to GTA IV fine after a few retries, and it lets me log into the official social club site without issues but Max Payne just sits there with a spinning circle next to the log in button. It's nothing but bloatware/paper weight in this state.

GTA4 last official patch disabled RSC totally.....

RSC is not the worse DRM by far I would say Steam offline mode & or Securom are far worse or how about Starforce when it broke optical drives & or disabled all optical media buring on your PC with its rootkit OS layer stealth drivers

Same happened to me with Max Payne 3, I just disconnected from the internet before I started the game and it signed me in offline.

Think I need to authenticate it at least once before it lets me play at all.

This is all I see, left it on this screen for 30 minutes and came back... no change.

Plus I want to play the online, I remember that being fun sans hackers.
