I was out on one of those 'can you come and look at why my PC is running slowly' jobs last night, and to cut a long story short, this lad had an X58 rig with a cpu that had the following temp profile after I installed coretemp:
CPU 1: 95
CPU 2: 97
CPU3: 97
CPU4: 96
I've taken the job on because it's a quick windows re install and a cpu reseat /. clean for £50. The heatsink was absolutely caked, but he said other than it slowing down a bit, he hadn't had any other problems.
Made me think though, I've stressed on the odd occasion when I get 71, and you hear people say in actual fact, it's quite difficult to break a cpu. Just goes to show eh.
